Interesting data Pat & I'd like to have a good old trawl through it to compare to my own. Can you please explain your 'departure from normal' column. For example on 22nd it says + 1.4C off an average temp. of 12C. Yet on 29th it's +9.7C off a 9.5 average.

Here are my stats for December using 0z to 0z daily data

The figures for 09z to 09z are

Mean maximum 12.72C (+5.3C)
Mean minimum 8.64C (+6.8C)

Mean 10.68C (+6.1C)

21 record Maximums, 21 record Minimums, and 5 minimums beating the previous record maximums.

A final mean 6.52*C above the 1981-2010 LTA and, at 11.22*C, higher than the annual mean of 11.01*C, which itself is the 3rd highest in my records back to 2000.

The trends late in 2015 has been so very odd; the annual mean was the same to the end of October and that placed it in 10th place in my records. The LTA indicated that the annual mean is meant to fall by about 0.9*C during that period, with a 0.5*C drop in December. No previous year in my records has managed to come close to avoiding a drop.

In Dec itself it increased from 10.85*C to the 14th (the low point of the month) to 11.34*C to the 20th, and then changed very little to the end of the month.
