Lots of rain and hail battering against the windows overnight after a miserable day yesterday - looking forward to the weekend and a window of drier weather! Chilly with a slight frost yesterday morning, just about averted it this morning.

Fine, clear and settled, if somewhat on the chill side at 3.3 C. No frost observed though.

A shame that it will turn rubbish again tonight, but that's January in the UK for you.

Beautiful crisp morning with clear skies and striking contrails (which are already annoyingly starting to spread into thin cirrus). First weekday morning that I've encountered some icy patches on the minor roads - there were quite a few puddles from last night's rain that had frozen over. Don't think we got an air frost though: minimum to 6am at Farnborough was 2.0C!
