Lowest it got IMBY was -6.3C at 05:30 this morning but fairly sure lower down near Frome river would have felt a lower temp than that as it was -6C where I worked at 22:00 last night. temp currently at -2.7c

Coldest day here since 16th Jan 2013 with a max of +0.4c

Just on the edge of the persistent fog with the Sun breaking through at times and this, coupled with a small UHI meant I failed to record an ice day.   But impressed nontheless given that last 2 winters have not seen maxima below +3.5c.   Its been the "mini cold snap that could", after all

Just need to see now how low it can get before the cloud comes in from the SW overnight .....

Max of -2.2C at Hereford today. Quite respectable.

Here it reached 5.8C after a low of -7.2C but the frost hung on in some shady spots for the second day in a row.

^^ yeah, just saw that. Reminds me of 19 February 2008 when we had freezing fog all day and a max of -2.1C, in an otherwise mild, dry and sunny month - with locations not far away above freezing. 3 days later, the temperature reached 14C with sunshine.. probably as close to Calgary-style temperature swings as we will ever get.

Nearly -4c here this evening.

A perfectly respectable cold spell imho. Eventual outcome somewhere between the over-excited Murrmurings of the coldies and the Beastly blowtorch trolling of the milders. Funny that.

By midnight last night, the temp IMBY had fallen to -1.3c. The cars had a lovely frosty covering. I went to sleep wondering if I'd beat the winter's previous low of -3.8c ()

-1.3c turned out to be the min.

By 7am, the temp was +2.2c and, by the time I left here, I didn't even have to scrape the windscreen.

I chuckled at the realisation last nigh summed up this damp fart of a cold spell.
