The skies cleared at around 5am this morning to allow for a rapid cool down.. ended up falling to -1C with some mist and frost. Fog rolled in at some point, but eventually cleared to leave sunshine.

Now 1C, clear and calm.

A low of -5.8°c overnight, a max of +6.7°c this afternoon, now back down to -1.1°c. I don't think it will be as cold as last night though.

Reached over 6C today which was warmer than I expected considering it was still sub zero at 11am! Felt quite pleasant in the sunshine!

Temperatures are rising now in Devon and Cornwall which brings to end the current colder spell. We are forecast to be up to 8c in a few hours and then not drop below 8c day or night for quite a while.

Odd now- there's a mistiness about the street lamps that suggests a rise in humidity, yet the car windscreens are much clearer than at the same temperature yesterday evening. Skies equally clear (blisteringly large Serengeti-style sunset today) and no wind.

Currently 2 C dead on here at Folkestone and there is actually a widespread air frost, but won't be long before the southerly breeze kick in. Probably all be gone before dawnbreak time.
