Look outside now to see if you can spot on any nacreous clouds, I think I can see them from here, west Manchester.
Definite nacreous clouds visible. Beautiful.

Several visble over Evesham around 5pm but had sadly faded by the time I got home to my camera. Will remember to take it with me tomorrow!
Having said that, just checked on instagram and lots of people have uploaded photos of nacreous clouds in Leeds - so it appears I just missed them.

There are some on today's Lakeland Cam taken over Coniston.
IMBY the sky was oddly luminous after sunset, but sky was obscured by thin tropospheric clouds.

The Times had an article today which tried to show a correlation with the onset of seriously cold weather. Presummably these clouds show disturbances in the stratosphere which could be linked (at least in a sub-editor's mind) to an outbreak of SSW.
I saw some in Workington earlier, sadly I didn't have the camera with me. Lovely to observe them.
Saw some nacreous clouds here around 5pm in the western sky, tinges of green and red mixed in. Last time I can remember seeing nacreous clouds was back in February 1996. Checking my records, it was Feb 16, 1996. These were much more spectacular though, and scattered throughout the western sky. Funnily enough, the weather was very similar to today, very strong westerly winds, mild (9C), stayed dry with hazy sunshine.
Visible again in the dawn sky this morning. My time-lapse last night was still picking them up 90 minutes after sunset.
Trying to spot them - and failing miserably in doing so. I fear that my southernmost Kent location and it's associated crappy cloudy climate may not let me see them.
Not as spectacular as on some of the photos but I saw a similar sunset with these clouds when driving home from Norwich last night. I have never seen anything like it before and wondered what sort of weather phenomena I was looking at. And similar to some of the photos, there were also some other wispy jet black clouds which looked really bizzare and which I have not seen before.
As I speak, pathches of purple/pink are appearing in the clouds East of Norwich!!
Edit.. Others at work confirm the clouds were clearly visible in Norfolk at dawn this morning.
Managed to (badly) capture them earlier this morning before the rain clouds spewed over yet again

As it is so rare for them to be seen like this here, the question is what are the unusual factors causing this and do the models pick this up. A big question!
