Had another heavy shower which has coated the road once again. Slightly less than a cm cover. Nothing special but nice to see after weeks of pain. Probably it for here for a while. Painstaking work getting showers this far inland unless wind is more direct East or West.

Snowing for last 40 mins. About 45 to go, adding to last night's covering. 4th time we've had 1" plus this winter.

This is the first lying snow we have had down here in the Tees Valley since 2013. only about 1cm and likely to thaw quickly but an absolute delight to open the curtains to

An unexpected dusting of snow here in Kibworth Leicestershire this morning.

Lovely winter scene out there.

So its been snowing now for 70 minutes and I'm wondering at what point does a snow shower become persistent snow?

To be fair it came extremely close to stopping at least 5 times, but always there was a few flakes in the air. Clearly it is snow showers in quick succession but can I legitamately claim persistent snow?

Interesting to watch temperature dithering about between -0.1 and +0.3.

Thursday's potential and I'm leaning towards a risk of snow in an area S Midlands SSW to Berkshire and Salisbury Plain as colder air cuts in from the NW.
Detail to be refined but it's a risk to be sure.

Have you seen the T60 fax chart, surely cold enough for frontal snow as well as backedge snow, 528 dam almost caught the front up? This really is going to be fascinating to see what happens.

Its not even worth trying to analyse. Don't build up your hopes. It will rain. It never snows any more.

I fear the greatest dampener may be intensity of precipitation as these frontal events have a tendency to fizzle. I would go for somewhere in the South West Midlands to see the most prolonged snow from this, perhaps the highest bits of the Cotswolds or the Malverns. Think we will be too far West here in Hay on Wye.

This one is going to be interesting, for sure, and a testament to reading between the lines a bit while model watching.

I'm off work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I've decided that if the snow won't come to me then I'm going to travel to it. The sweet spot tonight is Chipping Norton in The Cotswolds, altitude 220 metres.

A mere 2 and a half drive too.

Lets watch how it all falls apart
