Is the current cold spell linked to the SST event we had 2 weeks ago - YES or NO


I reckon it probably is - but the polar vortex hasn't completely been taken out of commission as we are still progged to see unsettled weather from the NW at times

The warm SST anomaly caused the downgrading of that cold spell. I hope you're proud of yourself.

To be fair, we should all shoulder the blame here. We were so engrossed in watching that large area of yellow head towards Greenland on the charts earlier this winter, that we failed to spot that small? puddle of yellow heading down the North Sea, which in turn raised the temps in the English Channel. A butterfly flapping its wings etc...
