I'm just outside Leeds and we've had heavy snow now for the last 20 minutes and it's settling...

Well that's a surprise - temp has dropped from 2.5c to 0.8c in past hour and moderate snow now settling readily.

^^ yes Tim, looking on Instagram the snow is settling in higher Leeds suburbs. It's settled well in Roundhay.

And - it's just started settling here too.

LOL, it was supposed to be a predominantly NW-England 'event' and still it's Yaaarksher that gets most of the snow.

Heavy graupel/snow shower in central Manchester

Edit: now all snow - big, fat, wet flakes. But not that heavy, and certainly won't stick (radar showing that, after an initial heavy burst, PPN will be light & sometimes patchy, and have likely moved through with 30-45 mins)

If only that bit W-E orientated snowband had been 40 miles further south...

Honestly, it's starting to level off to standard moderate snow now, but between 10-10.15 I would love to see the rain radar. It was snow of biblical proportions falling! Probably put down 1-2cms in that time alone. I needed cheering up today - can't complain! Oh Blighty...

Big wet flakes but raining in Crewe apparently so elevation a factor as expected.

We had a brief spell of showery snow this morning in Wirral - between 9:30-10am. Didnt stick as it was pulse after pulse of only moderate snow.

Moved on now, though now quite windy.

All eyes to the Irish sea, but something tells me - that was our lot for 2016.

Tapering off now but I wasn't even expecting snow at all let alone a good 2-3cm.

As I posted earlier, there was a PPN band, oriented W-E, about 30/40 miles wide, it's southern extremity generally/roughly sat on the northern fringe of the M62. The best of the snow appears to have fallen in Pennine areas from Lancs to W Yorks, and into N Yorks toward & into the York area itself.

Brief period of snow here too, following rain, thunder, hail and sleet. Local obs suggest a 3 degree drop in 15 minutes!

It is actually snowing here now, not heavily, but it is falling, temp is at 1.7c at the moment, ground is too wet also so it won't stick.
