Nothing here in Exeter - As expected! But never knew it would be this bad - even 2013/14 produced some sleet or a wet flake and a good 4 to 5 days of frosty weather. Crap! 0/10. -first time I've ever rated a winter so low. I can rant for on and on but you have heard it so I will not repeat. Thanks Gavin - you proved correct "A nightmare scenario and as bad as it get's" - if you're looking for a cold winter. I remember your words back in September.

Coldest temperature this winter was around -4c and this was on the early hours of 16th February.

Other than that most of the night's temperatures rose and even the cooler spells were brief. 0/10.

On the flip side 10/10 for those wanting a milder and wetter winter.

There hasn't been a single winter here (west Manchester) where I haven't seen snow at least once even the rock bottom "winter" of 2013-14 managed a very brief snowfall.

Nowt here, and temperature stats (in *C and with anomalies in brackets) that blow other years in my records (going back to 2000) away;

Average maximum 10.23 (+2.83), the first winter to achieve a double digit figure, nearest contender being 2006/7 with 9.18 (+1.78).
Over a degree short of 2015/16!

Average minimum 5.08 (+3.65), the first winter over 4.0 let alone 5.0! Second place is again 2006/7 with 3.93 (+2.50).

Overall mean temperature 7.66 (+3.24), first winter over 7.0 and leaving 2006/7 in the dust with its mean of 6.56 (+2.14).

Most of that is down to Dec 2015 of course with it's +6.5 or so anomalies, but Jan was around 1.3*C above the LTA both by day and night, the average max second only to 2007 and the overall mean landing third warmest, so it wasn't all a one-month show.

Despite the mildness, 1998, 2006, 2007, 2012 and 2014 all saw less snow than this year in my part of Cumbria.

Since mid January it's not really felt that mild with fairly frequent snow above 1,000 feet, 2014 was much worse.

Small compensation for the county being damaged by floods and gales.

I don't think it is incredible that some Southern areas have seen no snow - if northern blocking cannot establish, as it has been unable to for around 20 or more  of the winters since 1987/88, then it's no surprise given the synoptics needed for snow in the South, particularly counties South of the M4.

From December 27th 2020, zonality will be banned from mixing with the UK. We appreciate that this may come as a shock to younger people and old Uncle Barty. This ban will last for a minimum of ten days.

Here's the chart I was looking for a few weeks ago. Think it goes a long way to providing the explanation for the trend towards milder winters in the UK.

No snow here in Dublin other than one very brief shower in early December.

Didn't stick either.

After the exceptional mildness & wet weather of December, we have had more by way of cold and sometimes wintry weather at times since mid-January than we ever had during the first six weeks or so of the winter. Any mild weather we've had since mid-January has only been of a transient nature as opposed to the persistent well-above average temps we saw throughout Dec.
