Along with a slight drizzle, that boring in-your-face southerly gale is back again - and the peak is yet to occur by dawnbreak.

C'mon, can't I just go for more than a week without experiencing this type of wind?!

Just to let you know it's 11.0c outside with heavy rain at 1:15am!

Tomorrow 8am was forecasted a high of +4c in Plymouth! - If the BBC is right then the temperature needs to drop by some 7c within 7 hours.

We had a little bit of drizzle before and after midnight, but the real rain started just after 3am. Since then, the wind has been gusting to 30 km/h, with a rain total of just over 10mm.


Pressure down to 988hPa, and it's still very wet and windy.

3.8C here, rain didn't arrive until almost 6am but there's been almost 4mm already.
No wind at all just now.

Absolutely hosed it down around 4am, but lighter and drizzly now. Wind dropped too. Local obs show about a 20mb pressure drop between 8pm and 4am!

A disgusting morning with still that in-your-face gale force southerly wind and thick cloud cover, however the heavy rain of earlier on this morning appears to be easing off.

I am not a great fan for naming storms but this morning we have a perfectly shaped storm crying out for a name but it seems to have passed by the Met Offices attention. The winds are as powerful as any this winter in this part of Dorset. School bus late, tree branches breaking, horizontal heavy rain/sleet that would be a blizzard a few degrees lower, 20mb pressure fall, fences on the move.... Exciting stuff.

Very little wind here but persistent rain has already passed 15mm which is more than I expected in total from this!
There's quite a heavy patch just off the coast looks threatening too. 
Some sleet in heavier bursts at 3.5C

Funny how they were so keen to name storms earlier this year but now we have a cracker with significant disruption hardly a whisper from the Met Office. Maybe it will be given a name when it's passed.

Our son said his school in Dorchester was almost closed today because tiles were blowing off the roofs of buildings. Impressive rainfall too.
Winds much less now but lorries were blown over on the Bridport to Dorchester road earlier today.
