Its been grim, Jerry. Just 9c here in Crail yesterday, cold and drizzly. The tourists in St Andrews looked stunned. Unfortunately we get the easterly Spring gloom every year, you only hope it's limited to a few days. This May has been poor however. Let's hope it doesn't continue into June, I still get nightmares about the easterly dominated June 2007. Just 75 hours of sun at Leuchars that month and 79 at Dyce, both setting new lows for least sunny Junes on record. To make matters worse local thunderstorms that month led to Leuchars wettest ever June also being recorded (138mm, or three times the average rainfall).

The weather will reset into its usual south-westerly for the last 2 weeks of June so Aberdeen down to Edinburgh will warm up at last.

I know this as I'm in NW Scotland then!

Another warm day 19c with hazy sunshine here and similar conditions look set for the next 10 days, since the wintry weather at the end of April conditions in Cumbria have been very good with above average temperatures and below average rainfall.

Long may it continue.

If you have ever wanted to visit the Lake District now is the time but bring some sun tan oil and a hat!

It has not been a really warm day here (about 15°C in the garden) but thanks to blue skies, strong sunshine and light winds it has felt very pleasant indeed given the synoptics.

There is a hint of the daily gloom/hill fog/low cloud lifting, we may reach 12C before sunset.

Was enjoying 17C and sunshine inland at Crathes but came back to find the North Sea muck has invaded and it's just 11.8C now

Still waiting for the first Sunday this year to manage 10 hours sun. Sunniest so far was 28th February which just shows how horrible this spring has been.

June 2007 was so bad that the 2nd-13th was the dullest 12-day spell at any time of year, in my records starting in 2006, and wasn't beaten until November 2014. Absolutely disgusting

Beautiful sunny day in Edinburgh once the haar burnt off around 10am (can see the b******d stuff lurking out to sea now ready to pounce later) Equal warmest day of the year so far. Gogarbank reached 17 C.....phew!

Yesterday was a much better day here - spent hours in the garden. Today the coastal cloud and murk has been a bit more stubborn to clear and has flirted with the city for much of the day. There was a good three hour spell of sunshine this afternoon which was nice but before and after that it has been coolish and cloudy.

Inland just a little, Saturday AND Sunday were lovely here.  Sunshine all day, both days.  I could see the haar yesterday but luckily it stayed on the eastern horizon.

Yet another North Sea Nasty day with drizzle, fog and quite windy too about 10C.
Next week actually looks worse if anything.

Here at this end of Kent, where it's all overcast with a northerly wind making the 15 C feel cold, I'm seeing people trudging along my street with still full picnic bags. I could almost hear them cursing and muttering as they leave the beach.
I was hoping the sun would try to make an appearance later on today, but I can't see that happening as the mass of rain off to our east inches closer.

Reached 17 C yet again! Must be half a dozen days now reached 17. I dont think we will beat that this Spring! The ever present NE wind is the issue of course but it has been sunny at times this afternoon.

After what proved to be a savagely wet winter which in turn was followed by a cool and forgettable March & April, May seems to have been very kind to us here in Ireland. Some places have already recorded higher temps than at any stage last summer. May very likely to finish with well above sunshine too. Despite this, it nowhere near matches May 2008 for shear splendor, but certainly much better than May last year for example.

Well I have to say folks that May has been abysmal in the Charente in S W France. Very wet, very windy and temperatures all over the place. We had a couple of days where it hit the low 30's but then it would drop to 14 or 15 the next day. The wind has been a notable feature as have the number of days without blue skies and sunshine. Overcast days have been the norm and we have not managed more than four consecutive days without rain. Overall an extremely poor spring with copius rain, lots of cloud and cool temperatures. November 2015 was the last time we had sustained decent weather.

May has been a decent month here with I reckon around average sunshine (210 hours!) and only 40mm of rain thus far, average will come in at around 13c, warmer than the LTA with a new station max May temp record of 25.6c set on 8 May.

This easterly wind is really starting to piss me off now - horrid day with slate-grey skies. Can someone please tell the Atlantic on my behalf that I'm very sorry for anything I said to it in the past and I'll gladly take it back now?!
