EDIT: Ian et al must be getting quite a show over the channel - what an active storm that is!

Anyway, apart from still the left over flashing over the Channel as the storm retreats north eastwards away from us, I think that's it on the thunder front for this evening.

I was eating at the Gurkha Palace in the Golden Valley. A dramatic drive there and back punctuated with lightning forks illuminating cumulonimbuses. Returning the babysitter just now and heading past Dover Castle I noted big electrical discharges in the vicinity of Dunkirk as I looked eastward up the Dover Strait.

A late report for yesterday (Sun) Large slow moving CuNimbs were spawning all day over the southern uplands and Pentland Hills and lumbering north over Edinburgh before disappating in the Forth. Some bursts of torrential rain and hail and a couple of claps of thunder reported. I was over in East Fife on the coast where it was sunny and dry all day!!

Had a storm over Epsom area in the evening and saw ball lightning when I was on the way out back to Langley, this happened near A240 road to Tolworth.  It stayed there for a long time as the shower cell seem not to moved much so local Epsom weather station recorded 17.7mm of rain while nothing at Chessington as it was under clear skies.

First thunderstorm of the year even so the temperatures wasn't hot enough to generate it.

A very rapid convergence line is now in development just to my North spanning a line NE-SW 😊

Question here.

NE wind hits SE wind causing convection, but there appears now to be SW sheer higher up.

Good or bad for storm development??

Just had a heavy shower (3mm) with a couple of flashes and claps here in Kilmersdon. I can confirm that the showers are developing strongly and moving very slowly NNE across us.

Another storm developing over me here in Kilmersdon with hail this time

It's really interesting watching the towering Cumuus pile up from the South to ripen over us here before trundling North towards Bath.

Dying down now and easing away North now as the heat of the day is being lost. or maybe not. Was that thunder I heard again to the SW.

Been a little spot today in the Southampton area that looks to have copped a lot of rain. A small storm sat over one area for several hours on the radar, and the returns were red so pretty heavy stuff.
