GFS ensembles go unsettled from about the 12th and it looks to last at least a week. Temps don't look to bad though probably still average in the South.

Looks like going downhill after the weekend. The models seem to be in fair agreement that a trough will set up residence over the UK in the 10-day period.

Dropped in to say hi, wish I hadn't, it looks decidedly poor for mid June. I can live with 7, perhaps 10 days of mush, but if it becomes a prolonged spell then it's another June write off. Still nothing is written in stone, let's see what transpires at the time.

Moomin grow up! It's not about who post the most or who has been longer etc etc.
Nobody is telling you not to post either.. It what you choose to post and the thread you choose to post it in!!! Saying that it looks tulipfor a summer when we're not even into summer for a week is just stupid... Especially when you quote a model that only goes out to 10 days 😂 that's one third of a month or 1/9th of summer, and of that 1/9th half of it has been quite nice summer weather 😄

No Summer write off here Moomin looks OK even good after a dodgy week. I think some people are annoyed as you haven't given any evidence for your summer write off conclusion. As for me keep posting its all good fun it's only the weather.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days
UK Outlook for Sunday 12 Jun 2016 to Tuesday 21 Jun 2016:
Generally unsettled and somewhat cooler with bands of rain pushing eastwards to start the period. These will be interspersed with some brighter, but showery conditions which may be heavy with thunder too. It will become breezier than recently too, with stronger winds likely across southwestern parts later. Towards the middle of the first week, largely drier and sunnier conditions should become established across northwestern parts and gradually extend further south and east and it will become warmer at times too. Into the weekend and the start of the following week a north-south split is expected with the most unsettled and cooler weather in the north and drier, more settled spells in the south and southeast, though still a risk of showers at times with temperatures trending around normal.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 22 Jun 2016 to Wednesday 6 Jul 2016:
Through late June and into early July, the most unsettled weather is likely to remain confined to north and northwestern areas. Drier, warmer and sunnier conditions are should continue across southern and southeastern parts, again still with a risk of the odd shower at times though probably a trend to more in the way of drier conditions later. Temperatures generally near normal to start and perhaps cool at times in more unsettled weather, though most likely to see a tendency towards warmer conditions later.

^ That looks a lot more optimistic for next week than my reading of the charts. I am planning to go camping in Hampshire on the weekend of 18/19 June and that update looks not too bad.

interesting times ahead. Is the upcoming cooler unsettled weather from this weekend countrywide likely to be an extended affair lasting into July or are we looking at an improvement in conditions and temperatures once next week is out of the way? The extended MetO forecast sides with some improvement especially for the south but reading between the lines on the forum I am not so sure....

Looking very showery next week with these becoming very heavy in the second half as low pressure sits on top of us.
SE doing best for temps reaching late teens.
Good growing weather in parts.

Id be very happy with more of this throughout the summer - as someone pointed out - great growing weather.  Enough rain to keep the lawns green, enough sun to dry them out to enjoy them.

Both the Met/o and the GFS 12z are unsettled tonight and quite cool or cooler than it has been of late.

My interest has been piqued a bit by the 06Z GFS ensemble with a lot of scatter showing up from about June 19 and a few very warm runs showing up. The op was not one of them though.

I see the most likely outcome to be high pressure ridging in from the south-west from roughly 20th June onwards, though it make take a couple of bites to establish itself fully.

Am really looking forward to some unsettled weather next week.  Currently 28'C inside my office and pretty horrid to try to work in.  I used to love sunny summers but this company has made me despise them.  Last week's dullness was nice, though next week will be much more fun.

I wonder if instability might be high enough for the odd tornado to be spawned?

ps to Moomin - carry on please :-)

Would be a good timing as my holiday will start from 19th June to 9th August so a heatwave to occur on my 1st week of holiday will be most welcome.  We haven't got a proper heatwave yet this month so we overdue for one.  The recent warm weather is just a normal warmer summery weather.

12Z GFS not having it, with a northerly plunge in the outer reaches instead!

12z GFS is pretty horrifying you have to admit, especially with that persistent Greenland high that exceeds 1030mb on some frames!

Hopefully overdoing it massively.
