https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XV02dns5H-Y An awesome supercell chase in Eastern Australia

This is by far one of the best - if not the best - thunderstorm video I have seen. I was actually kind of shocked, lol.

That storm had over 80,000 strikes alone, but surprisingly no injuries or deaths at all.

On 30 October 2008 Ottery St Mary in East Devon was hit by a lightning storm that delivered 2ft of hail in 2 hours. A fire engine got stuck in a 6ft hail drift.

There were videos around at the time in the media but I can't find them anymore. But on this page you can see a reporter standing on the hail 12 hours later.

I'm not sure that there's too much information about this storm but there's a few write ups. Not too much info in them though.

The evening of the 29th October started very much normal with just steady rain and a temperature around 6°C. This carried on until 23:45 when the first flash of ligntning occurred, and it was directly overhead. The rain intensity then started to increase and the lightning became progeressively more frequent with overhead flashes accompanied by immediate, deafening claps of thunder every 30 seconds or so.

Thunderstorm in Co. Derry back in late July 2013. Some deadly storms around the whole of Ireland as the hot spell broke down that month. A house just 50 m away from mine was damaged by lightning during this period.
