Sunny spells, a scattering of cu and a distant cb to the NW very recently - looks to be to the south of Stockport, with a small core and a rainfall rate of around 30mm/hr. 25.4 C @ a muggy 84% RH. Pressure falling - now 1020mb.

29C touching 30, but what's really interesting is how the Dewpoint dipped at Heathrow (where I am now, waiting for a plane) from 15C at 11am to only 3C at 4pm. Now back up to 6.

This has happened a number of times before on hot days with Southerly flow at Heathrow. I think it must be something to do with turbulence caused by the North downs ridge bringing dry upper air down. It happens occasionally in Gravesend too, and that's also just to the North of the downs. 3C in the middle of a very humid airmass is only 19% RH. Extremely dry. Even now it's in the 20s %.

Sunny spells, calm, 23.9 C @ 85% RH in the shelter of the back garden - the humidity is reading a tad high I suspect due to the adjacent woodland and no air movement! Pressure @ 1019mb falling. Some Tcu around, this pic taken at 7.30pm BST ...

I think the cb you saw around 4.35pm was right over us. We were sat in the back garden when it started to rain. We only had around 5 minutes of light rain before it stopped.


Temp now 23.3C after a high of 27.2C

Looks like it had run out of steam by the time it reached you, Eric! Looking at the radar, it was at it's most intense as it moved between Lymm and Wilmslow - tho' if it was of the high-based variety, then maybe some of the precip. didn't reach the ground! The Meto radar showed a brief rain-rate of up to 30mm/hr but it was a very short-lived affair! I wonder what Wednesday will bring? We've certainly had more than our fair share of rainfall this month so far
