It's still over 21C at the moment down here and by the looks of the forecast tonight it won't drop much...

I think we have a pretty good, comprehensive network

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/climate-network/#?tab=climateNetwork

Though I appreciate that some wont be happy unless there is a synop station in every backyard....

But, wait, isnt that what the MetOs WOW is all about?

Although as we all know, our own readings are not normally taken in standard exposure.   Maybe we should knock down the house next door to give us better readings?  I am sure they would understand

(btw latest studies show that weather geeks are the most argumentative geeks on the planet.  This may or may not be relevent )

Expect some low 30s tomorrow away from a 10k strip along the coast; these areas will at least share some warm nights. Sea breeze effects last into the night in coastal strips so the SSTs will be relevant (but by no means all-controlling) there.

On reflection I may have been a little bit rash.

Currently 17.8c which is the overnight low. Impressive I think 18.2c is my record over 20 years of recording. Tonight looks even warmer.

Highh of 33c followed by a low of 22c (although that seems a bit excessive as a regional minimum) and then hot with the chance of large hail tomorrow. Interesting times.

btw whilst I think its fair to say some of the stations on WOW are amusingly over-exposed, overall the network does give a reasonable real-time idea of local and regional conditions (expecially since many official MetO stations are manual with quite a few reporting only weekly or monthly).   Also, of course, whilst our back gardens may not represent standard reporting conditions, they do represent what we actually experience, since most of us dont live in Stephenson screens well away from buildings and trees

It was down to 12.9C here about 5am though tonight may be warmer if cloud comes over.
Same 33C max it might get to 27 or so here I guess

I think we will get a max of 29c here followed by a min of 19c.

16c the low overnight. Currently 19c.
Looks like the forecast high minima for parts of Yorkshire overnight may well be down to cloud cover increasing through the night.

Sure, official Synop and climate stations dont cover every single micro-climate in the UK, but there are still hundreds of them scattered across this small island.   I doubt anywhere else has a much higher concentration?
