Morning Dougie. It’s great that you made a trip to Blackheath even if it was soggy. I’ve never been there but it must be a nice place for you to keep visiting it.

I think going to the CPL to look at their feline residents is a good idea, so I hope you make the trip today and get a new friend to share your home. Not only will a cat be a companion, it will also give you something different to think about. Let us know how you get on.

Have a good day.  X

I think the exertions over the last few days have taken their toll, I am very tired, and have slept for most of the day. Feeling ok though, and had a good sized dinner, chicken curry, mushrooms, rice, and a few chips.

I don't think there will be any more from me tonight, so have a good one folks.

Morning Dougie. I’m not surprised you slept so long after the week you’ve had. It isn’t just all the running back and forth to hospital that exerts physically, it’s the emotional ordeal that drains you as much as anything. So sleep and rest is good!

Sounds like you had a veritable feast for dinner.  I finished off Thursday’s mince and mushroom pie and the intended salmon steaks went in the freezer. I still haven’t quite mastered cooking for just the two of us, yet it’s almost a year since Daniel and Rachel moved out.  I find I’m having to freeze more to avoid waste but the freezer’s getting full.  I really should stop cooking and start emptying the freezer.

My next holiday with hubby is just a week away, providing there are no more hurricanes, so I really need to start packing today.  Whatever you do, enjoy your day Dougie and remember to smile.    X

You're sounding a bit more like the old Dougie, hopefully the tablets will lift your mood a little. Nothing ventured I guess...
I'm with you guys on the shepherds pie, I love it. I got trout fillets for tea tonight with a bit of sweet potato. Hope you have a good weekend xx

Still very much in the sleep mode, so nothing to report really, only the menu changed to Roast Chicken. Hopefully I will be more communicative tomorrow.

Enjoy your weekend.

Morning Dougie. The sleep and rest will do you good so don’t feel you have to write ‘war and peace’ every day.  It’s nice to see you posting but we make no demands.

I think maybe the autumnal weather and shorter days send us into hibernation mode because I’ve been sleeping a lot more this past week.

It was steak for us last night and I think it’s roast chicken for us today too!  Have a relaxing Sunday!  X

Unfortunately I had to work today so I'm whipping up a quick stir fry for dinner. No roast today. Might do one tomorrow on my day off. Hope you enjoyed your chuck! Xx

Still in sleep mode, what is going on!! Maybe it's the antidepressants, I don't know, but I can't seem to shake it off. Hospital later today so maybe that will give me some focus.

Foodwise, it's been disappointing, if fact hardly eaten anything, but I don't feel hungry, so won't worry too much, unless it carries on. I am praying for some good news from Guy's today, it's going to be one of the more important day's in that respect, so feeling a bit nervous as to the outcome.

Stir fry sounds good Dotty, maybe one for later in the week

I have still not done anything about the cat, and I am beginning to wonder if I should carry on with the plan.

Will try to post on my return, although it won't be until the evening.

Morning Dougie. It could be the antidepressants making you want to sleep and they certainly will relax you.

The decision about the cat has to be yours because only you know how you feel and you have to be sure.  I still think it’s a good idea but it is a commitment that needs considering. They are easy to keep and they are good companions.  Maybe today’s hospital results will be a deciding factor when you have an idea of your future treatment.

Good luck for today. I’m praying for you too!   X

What news from Guys? I hope they treated you well and you weren't kept hanging around today.

Let us know when you feel up to it.

Thanks for the posts guy's.

Well, the news is not good, the chemo is not having any effect, so has be stopped. The tumours continue to grow, so the only way forward is for experimental treatment, some of which untried. Unfortunately the list waiting for this treatment is over subscribed, plus they do not think I am strong enough to take rigours right now.

I have to return to see the consultant in two weeks, but if nothing has changed, the plan is to stop any further treatment, and concentrate on trying to make me as comfortable as possible.

Things don't look very good from herein, but life goes on, for now, and it looks to be a struggle. Not what I was hoping for, but I will have to make the best of it, I won't give up.

Oh Dougie. I’m so sorry to hear that.  I have mixed feelings about chemo. Whilst I think it needs to be tried if there’s a chance it will work, sometimes the side effects seem as bad as the cancer and affect quality of life. So if it’s not working, stopping it is the sensible thing to do.

Perhaps the rest from chemo will help strengthen your body in preparation for any further treatment.  But, whatever your consultant does or doesn’t do, you still have determination on your side and I think that’s the most powerful weapon.  Back to instinctive basic healing and positive thinking!

You know, none of us know when our time will be up so we have to make each day count.  Don’t let this bloody cancer get you!  Show it you mean business.  This is your life and you control it.

Try to have a restful night. Tall order, I know. But tomorrow’s a new day and it’s all yours to make the most of.

Night night.   Xx

Very sad to read your news Dougie.

But as Caz says, the chemo will have been taking its toll and you ought to get some benefit from an end to it.

Make each day count. I suspect most of us don't approach life that way but perhaps we should: we only get one go.

Sleep well and tackle tomorrow when it comes.
