Looking dire for east Devon esp Exeter:

Snow is allergic to Exeter surely! Something is really messed up here! How can it be!?

3pm Tuesday - Snow to our north, south and east all by 50 miles).

No chart available for the selected hour. Many charts start at 3 hours ahead, so if you have 0 hours selected try stepping forward or selecting a later hour.

3pm Wednesday (snow to the south and of Devon and most of Cornwall, yet Exeter misses out, but the snow moves out to the channel to give Isles of scilly a pasting!).

No chart available for the selected hour. Many charts start at 3 hours ahead, so if you have 0 hours selected try stepping forward or selecting a later hour.

3pm Thursday:

No chart available for the selected hour. Many charts start at 3 hours ahead, so if you have 0 hours selected try stepping forward or selecting a later hour.

3pm Friday...? oh wait I won't bother its too far out! But so so disappointed!

It does make me laugh the people moaning about the lack of snow that they were never supposed to be receiving today!

Well so far this dire easterly spell is reminiscent of the putrid March of 2013. Nothing more than a few flurries in the morning and dry all afternoon. No frost for days and only 3 hours below freezing since mid-month

Apparently there’s going to be 20cm of snow and a max of -3C on Wednesday. Well, since there has never been a max anywhere as low as that this late in the season, not even in March 1947, I’ll take that with a lorry load of salt

Furthermore, there is no hope of seeing any decent low temperatures with relentless overcast set to last throughout the first week of March which is just suicide inducing Really concerned that March could turn out to be an excruciatingly dull month. The worst easterly dominated horror shows such as 1909, 1964 and 1996 managed only 30-50 hours all month which doesn’t bear thinking about. Very little snow in any of them either.

Gosh BBC News talking of Beast from the east and now even the One Show mentioning it. Gosh! Give it a break. We are pathetic.
It's an easterly wind . They should stop referring to this as the "Beast!" every time!

In fact, I was amazed to discover that despite being right on the east coast here, we actually often have a better chance of getting snow when the wind is from the WSW than what we do when the wind is from the ESE.

The reason for that is because when the wind is from the ESE (as it was during a large part of today), we are often sheltered here in Edinburgh from the Lammermuir Hills to my SE so that when the wind is from the ESE or SE, we actually tend to do quite badly for snow in this part of the world.

When the wind is from the WSW though, those showers often filter all the way through the Forth-Clyde valley towards the Edinburgh area which can often be enough for us to do quite well for snow if that air is coming from the likes of Greenland or even Canada.

All the forecasts for here today were for light to heavy snow. Overnight tonight was for heavy snow. Now been changed to just a shower or 2. We've had one light shower this morning which briefly covered the path. The radar shows the snow passing to the north and to south. What have we done wrong? 😢

Same feelings here Elstevio...on E.Riding coast we have bugger all to show for a day of light snow showers and looks like the main event coming down the N.Sea tonight is going to miss my area by about 20 miles and head inland...I will be well miffed if that happens...

The Cockroach from the East strikes again

A totally dire sorry excuse for a cold spell this is. Yet again it has failed to go below zero There were more hours below freezing during last years exceptionally mild second half of February which saw many days reach 10-14C and was over 3C warmer than this years lamentable tripe.

Very little snow has fallen and it is a far from picturesque scene outside under dirty grey skies. Hardly anything on the radar so very likely that the minimal covering will have sublimated by lunchtime.

Tedious grey rubbish sums up what we have just now. Simply dreadful
