I remember this well, 18 years ago, a thundery trough pushes northwards bringing thunderstorms. Here in west Manchester, we had an early morning thunderstorm followed by a hot humid sunny spell until mid afternoon when another thunderstorm struck. A man was killed by lightning near Preston

This summer so far seems crap for storms for many.

Still time for that to change though hopefully.

I think that event gave us quite a severe thunderstorm at one point directly overhead for some time late evening.
We had a young sheepdog who was absolutely petrified of any sort of bang or distant rumble for ever after!
A friend driving home after dark said they stopped on the hill to watch, and saw several strikes in the fields near the village, they were afraid cattle would be killed or at least scared through fences.
