Thanks Gavin. Hoping for a resurgence of heat for the last week of August as it's family holiday time in Cornwall!

At least the current spell should be warming the sea up a bit.

Very interesting read. He didn't fare so well with his forecast issued at the end of June, but nobody's perfect... or even close in the world of long range forecasting


Looking at the temperature ranges he gives for the next 10 days, the upper ends seem a bit on the low side to me. Noticed that in previous forecasts - they're usually lower than the model consensus for some reason.

I always liked that term and until I saw Paul Bartlett using it I'd never heard it before, so I think of it as his term when I use it on occasion. 


I like to think it's a little homage to the great man.
