Thunder and lightning in Portsmouth.... for once. Not severe but there could be more as a band of storms run SW-NE across this region.

Could get more though.

I think it was made a lot better simply because its night. I may not have been as impressed by this storm had it been daylight.

I have been watching lightning flickering away to the SE - the Portsmouth / West Sussex storm. Obviously too far away to hear any thunder. I think the edge of the anvil is almost over us, it's obviously quite a large system.

We just had a little rain, just catching the edge of the storm that has gone up the A3 from Portsmouth to Guildford. No thunder heard here; the storm drought continues.

These storms seam to be intensifying as they cross the channel and hit the mainland. Brighton looks like its just had a pasting.

Having bypassed the recent expected storms, now in middle of a decent less than expected storm - lots of cloud to cloud stuff, but the odd cloud to ground, and some torrential rain and blustery winds

Got in from the pub an hour ago to a storm flashing away to the North. That would have been amazing if it had come over head.

^^ that's the one that I saw to the west. Very bright white flashes of lightning. Soon dissipated though. Looks like it affected Todmorden - the storm capital of the universe.

I was woken up around 2 AM by that storm - and there was some absolutely torrential rain (>54mm/hour rate). Unfortunately it's conked out my wireless thermometer / hyrgrometer in the back garden... nuts!
