Statistics for August 2013 from Folkestone, Kent.

A dry and warm month with average Sunshine.

A generally benign but dry, warm and settled month. The average temperature of 17.7c surprisingly exceeded the July 2013 mean (17.6c) due to the fact that SST's have been playing 'catch up' following the extended winter and cold spring.

A freak hot day on the first day of the month (warmest since 19/7/2006) gave way to a more mobile but generally anticyclonic based W or SW'ly airmass from the 2nd-22nd. Daytime temps in this period averaged a very pleasant 19-23c on most days. The average maximum temperature here in August is 20.5c.

It became briefly humid and then very wet between the 23rd-25th before a strong build in pressure in the final days of the month brought another spell of dry weather with long spells of sunshine.
