I don't think it was too bad here initially, but I took this and some more on the 13th by which time there was a fair cover.
Not particularly serious even then.

It was a good convective easterly although short lived.
Sunday dawned cold with light flurries , the temperature fell through the day . I remember by evening it was -4c with snow flurries both at Leeds and Luton airports and -3c across a good area. Overnight the convection kicked in and significant falls were recorded. Monday evening saw persistent snow from the Se. If I remember correctly a red warning was issued for up 50cm of snow across eastern up slopes. Didn't happen though. We got about 10cm from the showers and 10cm from the persistent snow. Some areas had over a foot where the showers aligned.
Think the band from the se was accompanied by disappointment as a warmer air raised temperatures, the snow fell at 0.4c here so must have been a slushy mess on lower ground.

Yeah it's Gordon Burns. He was chief news reader for BBC northwest for some years until he retired recently.
