According to the Met Office, 316.4mm of rainfall at Seathwaite in Cumbria from midnight to midnight of the 19th November 2009 Seathwaite (09.00 GMT to 09.00 GMT) 395.6mm in 2 days 456.4mm in 3 days 495.0mm in 4 days The phenomenal rainfalls was caused by a slow moving front and orographic rainfall.
