Apologies if this has already been posted - I haven't logged in for a few days.


My parents reported a pretty decent storm in Ilfracombe at the weekend and judging by this video I found they weren't wrong.


It gets better after about 2 minutes in (and check out the floating bottle bank from about 6:50!)

I'm not sure it should be called a storm surge - which is a fairly specific term where the tide is made much higher due to Low Pressure and wind pushing water against the coast.


The video mainly shows very large waves at high tide, without specific knowledge of what's normal at the location this is just first thought really!

You could be right. I'm not quite sure how you measure the mean tide level when the waves are that big, but certainly the waves were going well above where they usually do at high tide!

Thats pretty impressive! I always remember going to Lee Bay at high tide when the waves crash over the wall - this looks about 10 times better/worse depending on your view point...
