This isn't my pic, but it shows the explosive power of the sea. It was taken at New Brighton, which is on the opposite bank of the Mersey Estuary to Liverpool.

You will see, in the background, the remnants of the destroyed sea wall. This has stood for at least 30 years, and is concrete at least 6' thick. The pic below shows a section near where the above pic was taken. Absolutely remarkable.

Nah, I'm out of shot closer to the sea wall.

 

I have stood on those steps many a time, looking out over Liverpool Bay. Still can't believe the effect of the storm.

Between the sea and those steps that the bloke's stood on, there's a promenade about 50' wide, then a 6' thick concreate sea wall, the top of which is normally about 15' above average high tide. The sea breached that and flooded a huge area.

You took these, Martin? What camera? (Looking to treat myself to a new one for xmas, but don't want to spend more than £400) resolution doesn't look major sharp, but that could be this forum. May well be cell phone camera, but looks much better.

Me? Hell no. I'd have managed only to take pics of my own feet and the sky. I'm now thinking I should have credited the source, so they were all copied from the Liverpool Echo (I think)
