Here are some rainfall stats for December up to 09z today. Many places have seen more than double their average rainfall for December. Some places you would expect to have high totals because of their elevated location (such as Capel Curig). For other places the totals and / or anomalies are very interesting.

The one that stood out for me particularly is the Glasgow figure.

Only got 4mm from the heavy rain this morning.  Might catch one or two showers later but dont expect my total to climb much higher than it is just now, would have been nice to make 350 though.

Currently 346mm for the month.  Wettest month i have recorded.

It is a shame they dont seem to report from Sloy or Tyndrum anymore, because they are both pretty wet places and used to regularly top the tables.

My final total for December 2013 has actually ended below normal for here, at 39.5mm.  Our December average is 50mm.

My grand total for 2013 has come to 576mm.  That is very close to our long term average of 570mm.

Final total is 60mm for the month, most of this was in the frequent 'dribs and drabs' - the highest daily amount which fell was 14.8mm on the 16th, the next highest daily total was a modest 6.6mm on the 18th. The December average here is just 41mm - not sure how accurate that is, but we do get rain-shadow effects from the Welsh Mountains and the Pennines but also enhanced rainfall here from the 'Cheshire Gap' effect, especially if the winds are in from the WNW/NW.
