After having just seen Gavin's excellent video of winter 1946-47 - it seems aboslutely remarkable that 1947 and 1963 are just 16 years apart. You would think 1947 is a once in a liftime event, but to get 1963 as well so soon after is so strange


And (to a lesser extent) 1979 just 16 years from 1963


 


Here we are in 2013-14 just trying to get 3 or so days of cold weather with the Atlantic train going on and on - it just seems so pathetic!

People seem to have very short memories on here - a couple of weeks ago it was "anticyclonic gloom goes on and on, it's always hard to shift" and now it's "zonality goes on and on, it's always hard to shift"! It does make me chuckle....

Sequencies are always a fascination, scientific or otherwise.  Maybe not in that league but 1995-6 and 2010-11 didn't exactly disappoint did they? .... especially as the former came within a particularly mild run of winters.
