Pictures from 2nd Jan - but apparently the water was 2 to 3 feet higher after the Christmas Eve storm.

A pub with no beer! The White Hart at Stopham - the patch of water just on the left is the car park. On Christmas Eve, the tables in the background were just about covered

Impressive those pictures sure are - I think this shows how lucky - and I'll say so far us lot in East Anglia have been wrt heavy rain.


Looks like a fair bit of damage has taken place on some of these pictures.

Disastrous for a lot of pubs. A lot of them are hanging on by their fingertips financially due to crazy rents and  being tied into expensive  deals for  beer and food. Losing a slug of busy lucrative Christmas trade won't do them any good at all. Getting straight from a flood is never a short haul. Aside from the soft furnishings, you often need to renew parts of the structure and the electrics - worst case could mean months of lost trade.

I agree with previous posts. Ive seen lots scenes like this around Guildford also.
