Went for a nice long walk over the downs this morning, circa 15 miles. Great conditions, started in the dark and finished in bright blue skies and sunshine. Only difficulty were the number of trees down. The paths were littered with them. This coupled with the huge amount of surface water/flooded conditions made going very tough initially in the dark.......

Lovely day still, a gentle breeze and patchy cloud 😁

Still have about 5cms snow cover from the very unexpected snowstorm early Friday evening, which dumped 12cms onto absolutely saturated ground. It froze Friday night and again last night, now 2.6'and falling fast. Two lovely sunny days in between has given a gentle thaw and I expect it to be all away by tomorrow teatime. Glad of the gradual thaw as the rain equivalent for the Friday storm was 31.3mm, so if that lot had melted in a oner there would have been a right mess.

An absolutley glorious day, very light SW wind and nearly 9 hours of sunshine, with a max of about 9C. A couple of butterflies observed in the garden this morning

This afternoon we went for a long walk in the Suffolk countryside. The footpaths were quite muddy in places but not exceptionally so for a winter walk. No flooding encountered.
