I recorded my first rainfall since Christmas day on Friday and have received some good falls over the last few days! The grass is going green again.
Adelaide has gone from having its hottest and driest summer on record to breaking a rainfall record that goes back 80 years (that is breaking news just now and not in the attached article) -

Some places in SW Queensland will be getting their first rainfall for nearly a year! But won't be enough to break the drought out that way.
It has been a very strange summer weather pattern dowun under, not one I have seen before. Almost like a El Nino year in some ways. Some synoptics have been very unusual and have been locked in since early December. The Tasman high pressure ridge for example has been having an impact on our weather for nearly 3 months when you might expect that to collapse away regularly
Something has been knockign the weather pattens out over Australia but we can't blame El Nino or La Nina it seems.
