Usually I would just post this in the media forum, but you can have an entire thread devoted to how ridiculous this is.

http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/461082/Winter-will-be-drier-than-normal-Met-Office-claimed-but-the-Express-knew-truth

The title says it all, how anyone can be so arrogant and stupid to think that writing whatever extreme story you care to imagine can be more accurate than an organisation of trained proffesionals with shed loads of computing power and experience. I'm not entierly convinced this article is even genuine. It sounds like a parody of itself.

The Express has become in all aspects of its "journalism" rather like the National Enquirer in America or the Daily Sport with stories about WW2 bombers found on the moon etc.

But it still tries to portray itself as a "serious" newspaper. However, its gradually falling circulation suggest even its readers are now getting fed up and switching to the Mail

I love the comments (in the link) in reply to this piece of "journalism"! The hypocrisy (and indeed irony) seems to be somewhat lost of the article' author.

I am don't know what the Met Office's thoughts were for this winter, (maybe someone could enlighten me), but all the same I am sure they would not have made any sort of prediction without the usual caveats.

Anyway besides this it has to be said that the Daily Express should be apologising for not making it absolutely clear that the outrageous predictions that the newspaper has been printing with respect to this season were not sourced through the Met Office. I don't often read newspapers... but when I do read such items I tend to read them backwards. That way I can get to the nitty gritty quickly before binning it.

What a joke.  I did however manage to find myself to a story about a girl with a nice bum, which was more scientific and the headline predicted what I would see.

I would read the article in detail as at first glance it looks a decent piece of journalism.

Alas however I have some significantly more important duties to perform:

1) Remove by hand if necessary a large lump of congealed cooking products and excrement from my sewer
2) Trim my warts
3) Watch the grass grow

(in no particular order of preference)

As for the topic, should we blame the papers or the people who buy them?  If people didn't waste money buying such rubbish, there wouldn't be so much 'laughable' bad weather journalism!

I've been tweeting sarcastic things with regards to the articles most weeks and clearly he is now fed up. I've not been abusive or anything...just trying to state a point along with others including weather professionals.

The final straw was this hilarous article which is purely as I put it 'trolling' the weather enthuasists.
