Here's a couple of tables of rainfall totals recorded for the driest month on record for England and Wales namely February 1891 which a rainfall total of just 3.6mm

Started with the only really notable rain of the month for some... showery I suppose.

Strong high pressure builds up from the S and SW.

Drifts into Europe but further ridging from the SW keeps the UK dry but with a chilly continental feed at the surface.

...but pressure rises rapidly from the west and kills off the precipitation.

Two days into March, a change finally gets underway.

The first notable storm in many weeks finally arrives.


 


It must have been an extraordinarily useable period of later winter weather. If TWO had been around, that northerly toppler in February would have been the only real topic of discussion that month
