I saw earlier on that the models were shifting Saturday's event slightly west. Looking at the 12z Euro4 precipitation it seems to have shoved it back east. Then again BBC Weather is showing the bulk of the rain over the western half of the UK.

Encouraging for central parts to see mere proximity to the Peninsula around Cherbourg generating a thunderstorm or two within the line headed NNE across the Channel

Looks like Lizard Point got hammered not long ago, would of been interesting stood near the cliff as that thunderstorm approached!

the edge of the precipitation has now reached a line from the Bristol channel to the Isle of wight, but is fragmenting o the eastern end so it may not make much progress east..,

currently cloudy here but dry.and no lightning

The breeze has picked up over the past 45 minutes or so, it's helping to shift the +30C indoor heat ;-)

Sorry forgot to add the cloud is also increasing 🙂 I'll be listening out for thunder tonight 🙂

I can see frequent lightning flashes in the distance to the south of my location and looks to be heading this way, hopefully I'll be saying goodbye to the non lightning and thunder club

Things kicking off quickly here now, lightning flashes every couple of seconds all over the place and can hear thunder now.

Electrical activity really jumped upward when the line of convection hit the Dorset/Hants coast. According to the Met Office map the area around Bournemouth had 30 detected strikes in 15 minutes, and those tend to be the CG ones!

Here in Reading it's a very sticky 20*C but a brilliant gusty wind has developed outside and is providing welcome relief for those venturing out

Just had the fright of my life, was up the garden whena bolt hit the ground not 50 yards from me and my ears are still ringing from the thunder clap which was the instant the flash came down, I'm watching from inside the house now under wifes orders. Jeez that was too close.
