Hi all,

As part of some independent research that I am undertaking, I need to take temperature readings to determine changes over a distance of about 5km. I don't have the means or funding to set up individual stations at set points along the traverse, so the best alternative I have is to try and track temperature change by taking readings from a moving vehicle. I was thinking of something similar to what Chandler (1965) did to identify changes in temperature across London, whereby he attached thermometers to a slow-moving Land Rover, taking readings at set intervals.

I understand the limitations associated with taking temperatures from a moving vehicle, but this is the best cost-effective alternative means of determining local temperature change.

So, to put it simply, I'm searching for the most accurate way of measuring outside air temperatures from a car. Does anybody here already have a more advanced means of measuring the temperature in their car aside from the in-built temperature gauge?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

George
