I must admit I do get fed up of people basically say "the current weather is not to my taste therefore it is boring". I was under the impression that I had joined a weather forum, not a cold/mild/ hot/ thundery ( delete as appropiate ) weather forum. I must be a little strange as I do find our UK weather interesting, broadly speaking. This month has seen unusually mild weather, the remains of Gonzalo, to name but 2 events this month. Then again, when people are only interested in their own back yard - as it were - it easy to lose sight that weather does actually take place in other parts of the country

A final thought, some lament last winter as "boring" well here in Workington on four occasions I recorded pressure under 960mb in  a matter of weeks - hardly boring.

Now that I have ranted, I feel better already.

I`m definately in the "It`s not boring"camp. I actually like this sort of weather, and long may it continue!

Today's weather has been thoroughly boring. Probably my least favourite type (dull all day which makes it darker indoors at this time of year, dry & mild).......... at least when the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo moved through it was an interesting spell of weather. With thousands of golden leaves and branches strewn on the lane. Anything is better than this mind numbingly pathetic spell of weather we are enduring today. The only saving grace is energy costs but even then we have to put the lights on earlier now because of the pathetic clock change! Absolutely ridiculous. Hopefully this tedious spell of weather will come to an end soon.

i am not saying i want heavy rain and gales with people losing their roofs but autumn is all about frost and fog - not wanting anticyclonic gloom with endless days of grey gloom but cold sunny days and frosty foggy nights

nothing beats seeing frost shine on autumn leaves on a cold crisp morning or seeing fog disperse on a cold morning as a grey shroud of fog dissolves into a blue cold sunny sky

this weather is OK and saves on heating bills but doesnt really do it for me for the season we are in - come back in spring or March and I will take this weather

At least it's mild. Nothing worse than slate grey, dry and cold. Thoroughly miserable wrapped up in layers of clothes, with a runny nose. I have a t-shirt on today

Well I hope we don't get a Winter like last Winter.. that was depressing - like I said in the Winter 2014-15 thread I might move to somewhere where you can guarantee snow & cold all Winter if we get a repeat performance lol

I'd put a bet that someway through to end of November the pattern flips not northerly but from the East. We haven't had that old Siberian express for sometime...

Whether or not you consider the weather boring, depends on your circumstances and probably your age and past experiences.  Calm, benign weather causes less disruption to normal life and costs less in heating bills, though I expect as we're all on a weather forum, we'd each have a preference to some kind of exciting weather.

If we didn't have benign, unexciting weather, we wouldn't get so excited when things do hot up (or cool down, get rough, freeze over etc)!  For me, the excitement is greater when it's more rare, unexpected, or short lived.
