Well done Gavin. A fair analysis of how things stand at present. As you state could all change very quickly in the next few model runs but a well presented forecast. Enjoy your lie down and prepare for your next update which I bet will be equally hard to interpret.

I note very mild for next weekend Gav do you think this is nailed on? It seems astonishing this so called winter has been flipping from cool to very mild pretty well for the last 6-7 weeks in the South with this coming week an exception ... Today in London we have reached 7 degrees ...I call that average winter temps for January great resume for the werk ahead

That must have been one of the hardest forecasts to call.
