Dull and damp which made having a lay in quite easy.  4.2 C with 97% humidity under virtually calm winds.

Although air temp is circa 3c here, the strong wind and persistent sleet makes it feel very cold. I went for a bike ride over the downs and it was bitter. Puddles full of ice, icy sleet hitting me straight in the face and hands and feet that ended up feeling like frozen slabs of meat! Sleet has got heavier and is trying to turn to snow......

Just popped out to get the papers and I can see slivers of blue sky trying to cut through the general high cloud sheet, there was a short spell of moderate type rain not so long ago but it looks like the more persistent heavier stuff are all staying well over the French side of the Channel. Just as well as I've had enough of the ruddy stuff.

Blue sky and sunshine has helped push the temperature up to 4c but in the last hour we've lost the blue sky completely and it's now very grey.  Something approaching on the radar courtesy of the 'Cheshire Gap'.  Fingers crossed the temperature dips when something starts to fall.

Light sleet at first but now moderate snow with big flakes.. It's a passing shower so don't expect too much. Snowing none the less though..

Yeah, better to watch snow fall than rain.  Brief snow boxing day and last week fell after dark so not as good to watch unless you're on strict lamp post watch.

A heavy snow shower here, started at 1pm, gave a covering.

Went to Macclesfield a bit later, just like a Christmas card scene there with about an inch of snow and all the trees covered with it.

Best winters day here for 3 years - not that there was much to beat! Lovely morning walking through the village in the falling snow with the kids in the sledge. Snow fell for about 3 hours and it was big, soft flakes without a breath of wind. That beautiful silence you get with snow was just tremendous. Rather ruined with the snowball fight we had with the neighbours tho!
Ended up with a couple of inches, some of which has melted now but it only reached 2.4c so still plenty of snow cover out there. Temp falling fast now tho, currently 0.4. Will be interesting to see how low it gets tonight.

Amazingly it is actually snowing here, albeit wet snow - but definitely snow. Lots of precipitation on the radar if it hits here and stays cold or gets colder it could be great.

Or it could be very very frustrating!

AT LAST ITS SNOWING!!! just outside doncaster and a 10min moderate snowfall has covered favourite surfaces.  I was just cursing the dreaded rain and then a couple of minutes later it turned to snow.
