I have just bought a new pc and want to move my weather data with me. Has anyone done it or knows what folders I should copy over, does it work?  Would seem a shame to lose my data.

WD is a pretty simple program under the hood, being written 15 years ago and just tweaked a bit since then.

As such, it doesn't use any fancy methods of storing its data. You can, providing you have the correct runtimes installed, just copy the whole directory over to a new PC and run it from there. Its records are stored as text files in a subdirectory under the main program directory.

NB, I have my install in c:\wdisplay, preferring not to put it under the Program Files (x86) tree.

Give it a go and see what happens!

Read and study this carefully:

It's fairly simple even though you have to brush with registry settings.
I moved mine several times for example when updating the host PC(s) from XP to Windows 7
The WD folder will take a long time to transfer via  USB stick or whatever.

Thanks to both of you, I thought it might be as simple as copy and paste. I'll read the link tomorrow before doing anything. Intend to move it onto a portable hard drive
