I'm not sure how common this is or isn't, but there's some pretty impressive charts coming up for the Indian subcontinent and the Himalayas for the weekend and early next week.

It almost looks like a slack frontal depression will gradually drift in from the Arabian Sea off the coast of Pakistan late on Saturday, sparking off thunderstorms across much of India in the process. The associated rainfall looks like it could potentially be really heavy and sustained across a huge area from Central/Northern Pakistan right across northern India and the Himalayas.
After recent avalanches in Afghanistan, I dread to think what kind of weather the Himalayas and possibly Kashmir will get out of this system - trekkers will certainly need to be very careful I'd imagine!
