Since I been recording daily temps in Furnace Creek back more than 10 years ago I never record a max of below 40C in July but yesterday was truly amazing cool at 35C max and 21C at night which is more like a tad below Nicosia July average.   There was a lot of storms around this region and deposited 5.6mm.   It been a cooler summer for them as well and didn't exceed more than 50C only reached twice in June and that it.  Latest July average now 43.1C which is 4C short of normal 47C average so it been a funny summer for some places like France are hotter than Death Valley in term of staying above average non-stop while here just at or tad above and well below average in the north, Scandi and the Baltic sea temps failed to reach the annual 20-22C peak temps.

Interesting post Jiries.

I'm not really up on the El Nino situation but is this a sympton of its emergence ? smile

I looked at this thread expecting to see it had been snowing in Death Valley ......

Where else could temps in the low 40s centigrade be called "unusually very cool"

I have Death Valley on my phone weather and noticed the 35C last week and thought it was unusual but didn't realise how unusual it was. Obviously this mean Las Vegas was 'cool' that day too.
