Thanks Gav for both videos today. Absolutely awesome effort as always. December does look interesting and I would take that and then a warm up to an early spring.
Looks like the models are firming up on Joachim heading north and not impacting us directly so could become quite pleasant again next week although cooler.

Cheers for the winter update Gav , not as bad as I was expecting.

7-8 weeks before we even get to December so much will no doubt change.

I think there's no getting away from the fact that the strong El Nino is probably the strongest factor affecting the upcoming winter, but like Gav P I have a feeling that something unusual will happen this winter, that it won't be as straightforward as 1997-98.

Thanks to Gav P for another excellent video.

Gav - big jump in snow cover yesterday, I see.  Which web site hosts the historic data so that we can compare this year to prior years please?

thats a fantastic winter 15/16 update there gavin enjoyed watching that while eating my roast dinner, a bumper 27 mins luvvly jubbly.

i raed some where that EL nino never behaves the same way twice, tho EL NINO  is unpridictable, still early days but i hate snow in spring easter time, still have 8 weeks before winter offically starts so should be intetresting times ahead, thanks gavin, enjoyed that update, good work

It can be a little bit tricky to navigate but you've got every year from 1997 to 2015 here.

The area you need to look at specifically is Europe/Asia, which starts in the year 1998.

To compare to early October your looking for around day 275 in each of these years.

Have fun.

Great stuff Gav. The work you put in to this is much appreciated.
One thing - that screensaver image? Am I to assume this is a re-creation of what the Earth might look like should all the forecasts from the Express over the last ten years be combined in one super-Rao apocalypse? 😎
