Woke up to fair bright weather at 7.30 am, then there was a light shower and now low cloud has filled in the sky to make it rather overcast. I suspect by the time that does lift and clear away today, the high cloud associated with the approaching Atlantic weather front would have turned up by then.

15 C & 75% H under a light south west breeze.

Cloudy but dry at 16C and a SW wind. Still not that warm for this time of year, but better than what we have been getting recently. Also, it is nice to see a return to SW winds after such a long easterly dominated spell of weather in this part of the world.

17C here in Scotland's capital city, but it's raining quite heavily, and has been doing so for the last hour or so. Looks like it's back to putting my house lights on early tonight, once again.

The rain has got even heavier since my last post, and is now almost torrential. I'm sure that at one point in time, this bad weather wasn't going to reach us until tomorrow which would have given us a decent weekend.

However, subsequent forecasts since then have kept bringing the timing of that earlier all the time and by this morning, it was then expected to reach us by teatime today. Because of that, I'm not surprised that this latest bout of really miserable weather has already reached us and that is part in parcel of what is now turning out to be a rather miserable summer after such a promising start to it.

Once the sun was out in the middle part of the morning, it turned out to be a very useful day with hazy sunshine and variable high cloud cover. Despite the brisk south west breeze thus kept temperatures at a constant 17 C, it was easily comfortable enough to do the garden (lawn and hedge) in shorts and cardigan.
It's only just now that the high cloud is thickening up and being accompanied with some medium height cloud thus blotting out the sun.

Tomorrow does look a bit shite, though.

Temperature has dropped to 14C but it's not raining as heavily as earlier on. That rain is forecast to clear away from here overnight, but leave us with a mixture of sunshine and showers for tomorrow with a brisk SW wind and a fresher feel to things. However, it is expected to take a bit longer for the south of England to clear up due to a wave-like disturbance running along a trailing cold front.

It's still raining here, but the temperature has climbed back up to 17C with a SSW wind and since that has happened so late in the evening, it looks as though we're in for quite a muggy night which could be quite uncomfortable for sleeping. That in itself though, is quite a massive change from all of cold easterly crap which we were getting not too long ago.

The rain has finally arrived here, all murky too. If anything, the fresh south west wind is making the current 15.2 C feel all cold and draughty (having to keep windows closed).
