Appears to have peaked at 27.5 C about an hour ago, still very impressive for my coastal location and with a sea breeze. I'm in just my shorts sweating bullets.

Peaked at 29.5 C here a short while ago. Patchy cloud has now appeared and is taking the edge off the temperature. SE winds blowing in from the adjacent countryside, so I imagine that the town has been a degree or three hotter than this location

Ok - so who's won? I don't think we're getting much more heating now, so are the results in. Anyone get 35C on the mainland, or is 34C the number for the day?

31.2C today ☀️

However having cycled through the city earlier i can say it was locally a damn good deal warmer.. If I was hazard a guess then 34- 35C mark.

Now for the sake of some in here I must stress these would have been very localised inner city temperatures.😋

A fresh bottle of icy cold water from a shop fridge had warmed to air temperature in just over 15 minutes!!!

Reached 34.3c in my garden.

Think Pershore peaked at 33.4c so allowing for non standard exposure, thats seems about right

My PWS reached 35.7C after being over 34.0C for 3 hours this afternoon.

It is in full sunlight at 8 ft high on top of a bird stand.in the middle of my lawn.and will normally reach 2.0c higher than the Stevenson screen about a mile away.

It was very hot out there!.
In the last hour the wind has picked up and has just gusted to 10 kmh, and my temperature has fallen (insurprisingly) to reach 34.8C (much cooler!).
I went out in the car and my car themeometer( reasonably accurate I think) reached the dizzy heights of 33.5C, whilst I was driving along.

Edit...

Indoors my temperature is 29.8C (accurate) and rising!!

33.5C is slightly above my model based prediction of 33.3C although I thought it would be in Heathrow rather than Brize Norton.

What do people think? I think the met-office did overdo it; however the model consensus of 32-33C with >33C in heathrow early was a bit of an underexageration.

27.4C was the high here though still 24C now
A good breeze picked up by 10am and really it has been rather nice if not doing anything too strenuous

Way down on last year's half-day wonder of 30.2C on 1st July, and today was probably this year's high.

Reached 30c in central Ireland today and still 27.7c here locally, and with dense cloud now building over to trap in this heat, I think it is going to be a horrible night ahead for sleeping (or trying to)

Still a smidgin over 30C here with dewpoint and humidity on the up. Altocumulus filling the sky now but not hampering the awesomeness of this summer evening.

38C here in Madrid today, disappointingly cool compared with the original 41C forecast. It's been fun watching Madrid running about 2C ahead of London all day until the last few hours when it soared. I'll leave a temperature of 35C and probably land in the late 20s, which will be exciting. Looking forward to the disbelieving expressions on the Spanish travellers as they exit into a hot West London.

Fingers crossed for an uncomfortable but record breaking 25C min in London tonight.

I reached 30.3C today just a tad under the 30.7C from yesterday. Probably due to the Increase in wind this afternoon. Humidity was more evident this afternoon as well.
