Maxed at 29.9C around 2.45pm.

With the last three nights having minima in excess of 16C and very little air movement, our house barely cools down before it starts cooking again.

Interesting conditions: Some frontal patchy high cloud to the West, altocumulus is developing just to the East - this is slowly moving NEwards but we have a light surface breeze blowing from the NW. Warm and humid: 21.5 C @ 78% RH  Could be an interesting night

A lovely calm, warm and humid evening after another very warm afternoon although the mist stayed with us until midday.

Yeah, 50/50! Usually at this time of year any plume-type thunder doesn't make it this far north, but conditions have been exceptional .. you never know! The further east you are the better, so I think you stand a greater chance than me, Steve! I'd rather this NW breeze be replaced by an easterly

Builder friend is committed to installing a chimney liner at a local pub tomorrow - their chimney has been condemned and with cooler weather imminent plus scaffolding installed (it's tall) he really wanted it doing before the weekend when there will be too many onlookers and critics.
Risk of inside mess can't be ruled out even though access is to be gained from outside, so not a job for when they are busy.

It all sounds a bit horrific with possibly torrential rain before 10am!
I suggested it might be through by 3pm or sooner but he thinks that is too late to start.
