Doncaster airport had 30c at 10:50.

Met office app has us partly cloudy and 36c at 2pm and with lightning/rain at 3pm and 4pm.  That cloud could scupper some records if it comes early!

We've just touched 30.0C here in Sheffield at 11:23am. Remarkable!

With a gentle southerly breeze it feels stunningly hot out there. Boggling to think we are likely to go 5 or 6 degrees higher yet!
My main aim continues to be beating Sheffield's record of 34.3C though.

Highest temps as per Met Office tweet https://twitter.com/metoffice/status/1154333880079585281

Kew Gradens 34.0C

Heathrow 33.4C

Northolt 33.1C

Cambridge 32.7C

I assume these are between the hourly readings.

Edit: actually Arome does have 33C in the Cambridgeshire area for 11am. Arome 6Z is a degree or so higher than the 00Z. It shows Cambridge as the hot spot with 39C.

We seem to be on course for running the record close here in Coventry currently around 30.5c we need 34.4 for july record and 35.1c for all time record set in 1990.

Driving from Dover to Warwick. The story so far. Time and temperatures

0840 Dover 27c
0905 Canterbury. 30c
0915 Faversham. 33
0950 Medway. 32
1010 Gravesend. 33
1100 M1/M25. 33
1130 Newport Pagnell. 36

Notables - the 33 c in the vicinity of Brogdale at 0915. And currently 36c outside here. I’m sat in the services with a/c.

Looks to me like the July record is gone or close to it and the all time is very likely to fall. It’s not impossible to envision 40c being breached.

Dover, 5m asl. Half a mile from the south coast.

Kew Gardens is still leading Heathrow, surprisingly: 33.4C at 11am compared to 33.1 at LHR. So all the tarmac naysayers will have to try another angle... reflections from the greenhouses? πŸ˜‰
