Almost neck and neck with 2003, which had 29.6 at 9.50am and 31.5 at 10.50am.
2019 had a more freakish early rise with 31.6C at Heathrow by 10am but then it stalled around midday.
Eyes down for a 31C by 1100

I'm a big fan of clouds during the summer months, Mark
The rises today and far more impressive than we have seen for days. Whether that bodes well for later on remains to be seen
More of a continental flow.
Just given this excellent thread a little tweek. Developing hot August.
Anyone got any dewpoint figures for yesterday. My god that was hot - what together with a higher humidity.
32.7c was the max here today.
30+ here for five consecutive days.
Dewpoints were between 20-21c making it very uncomfortable.
26.0c here and cloudy.

Mildenhall 22C at 10am today. Lydd was also 22C but doesn't show up there. Shoeburyness 20.9C at 11am.
Yesterday there were plenty of 20s and a few 21s as well.
Just 24.8C here thanks to some very persistent but very welcome cloud!
Agreed they got 365 days to do it but leave us alone during extreme heat or cold spells that last few days as often get cloudy after snow falling and no clear nights for very low temps over night.
Now here clear but not yet hot because loss of 5 hours of warming up times.
Clear skies here and the temp is rocketing. Up 0.4C in the last 7 minutes to 28.8.
And another 0.7C making a 1.1C rise in 17 minutes Now 29.4C
Gatwick 32C on the 11.20 METAR
20C dewpoints are widespread, with Mildenhall still reading 22C.
Temperatures widely 32C in my heatzone.
Id like a 33-34C by 1pm at a minimum please
Blimey, almost reaching the big 3 0 already here, feels pretty special for such a rural location.
Fascinated by the lack of sea breeze advance inland in the forecasts for today - predicted to stay within 10 miles of the coast. It usually takes a high tot he west / low to the east to cause that, but this time it seems to be down to the location of the (main) heat low centre to the southeast and the broad-scale flow of low-level air toward it, though I'm surprised such could be strong enough to overcome a 10+ °C temperature difference between sea and land.
Wind has now become variable in Bournemouth and east-southeasterly on the Isle of Portland, so the sea breeze is trying to get going for the coastal locations.
AN exciting, if personally challenging (I work from home where there's no air con!), afternoon ahead.
Just looked back at the 31 July thread (which needs to go into the classic forum, mods!) and Blackbushe was on 32.2C at midday. Currently 30.3C so some way to go, but then we did get hit by the cooler air during the afternoon that day.
No 33s on the 11.50 reports.
Its that midday lull. 34C is a must by 1pm to challenge any records today.
