Our forecast suggests daily mean temps of 0c.  So it could end up low 7’s.

Just been looking at the Autumn (i.e. September to November) CET stats. Despite the cold end to November, this autumn will be up there as one of the warmest ever recorded based on the CET. Definitely in the top 4 and it might just pip 2022 for 3rd place.

Top 4 (based on November 2023 coming out at 7.40C) are;
2016: 12.60C
2011: 12.37C
2023: 12.17C
2022: 12.13C

These are the only 4 years with a meteorological autumn CET above 12C.

Getting tighter at the top, albeit only slightly! Just 0.8°C between the top 5 judging by my own tracking which has so far lined up with Frank's.

Given my high interest in statistical processing & presentation, I did consider volunteering to try running this competition, but my workload has a habit of escalating at short notice, so I can't guarantee availability at the right time.

I'm sure JMM2005 will do a stellar job for 2024+ 🙂

So how about this December eh? A notably cold start, signs of milder weather later next week, but events in the works which might turn conditions colder again at some point in the 2nd half of the month. That's a recipe for a really tricky month to estimate - good luck everyone!
