For about the last week, we have had 3 doves that perch (to sleep) on our front windowsills at night, and just there, when I went out to 'secure the bins' from the wind, this little chap was perched on a plant pot right outside the front door. He didn't even flinch when I passed him. I'm afraid that if he remains there that either the rising wind, or the local cats, will get him before the evening is out. I think I'll have no other choice but to try and scare it off for its own safety.
