The weather continues to the rather mixed with continued attempts at high pressure often rebutted by areas of low pressure which bring showers and longer spells of rain. The coming week will be classic example with some drier alternating with wetter days too. Temperatures will remain warm though...
Saturday morning has been mostly dry although we have had some heavy showers in the south. The best of the sunny spells have tended to be in the north and west. This afternoon will bring more heavy and thundery showers to south west England and Wales as well as western Scotland. Central and eastern regions will turn brighter this afternoon with sunny spells though the east coast could stay misty and murky at times. It will be a warm day with temperatures of 15C to 22C.
Overnight, showers will quickly fade out and most places will have a dry night with clear spells and variable cloud. Some fog patches are possible and it will be a cooler night with temperatures of 7C to 11C.
Sunday should be a mostly dry day for England and Wales with long sunny spells but scattered heavy showers are possible across Scotland. Eastern coasts will be cool and misty at just 13C to 16C but elsewhere it should be another warm or very warm day with temperatures of 15C to 24C.
High pressure will be ridging into the country from Scandinavia on Monday so we should have another mainly dry day with sunny spells and variable cloud. Scattered heavy showers are possible for western Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as southern England but most places will stay dry. Temperatures ranging from 14C to 21C east to west.
Pressure starts to weaken on Tuesday. After a mostly dry start we could well find a scattering heavy showers breaking out quite widely across the country. Some of the downpours could be thundery although not everyone will get these showers. Some areas are likely to stay dry. Temperatures 14C to 22C.
Some uncertainty about Wednesday's weather with an area of low pressure set to move in to the north sea from the east, but how far into the country the low gets remains to be seen.
Eastern coastal areas could have a very wet day on Wednesday while central and western regions may have sunshine and showers. Heavy rain could be more widespread than this suggests though, so Wednesday is potentially one to watch, especially for the east. Temperatures 14C to 21C.
A trough of low pressure remains close to the country for Thursday and Friday with a risk of more heavy showers or longer spells of rain though as ever the devil will be in the detail. Temperatures ranging from 13C to 20C.
Next weekend - bank holiday weekend - Brings more showers but there should also be drier spells too. Temperatures remaining fairly warm.
Summary: Mostly dry and warm to start but showers and longer spells of rain from mid-week. Temperatures remain warm.
